Everyone’s Saying Happy New Year!

Happy-New-Year-2014-Text-SMS-for-girl-friendBut really, what are people thinking?

January 1st is really just the day after December 31st. It really has no more  significance than any other month change.  One day follows another…and for many, that is really all it is regardless of the words said. They will just go on, one foot in front of the other, basically doing the exact same thing they have been doing. And then, a year from now, complain 2014 was no different.

The start of the calendar year CAN be made into something more meaningful. It CAN include some personal consideration of aspects of your life that you can change.  But that day can be ANY day also. calvin-hobbes-new-years-resolutions-572x433

For many years now I have realized that if I would just stick to the diet I start on January 1 I will be thinner and healthier a year later. Each year I think that.  And each year I fail, usually at the end of April for my birthday celebration. I fall off the wagon and just am too tired by the constraints to climb back on.

Change is hard.  The desire for the results of that change has to be stronger than the difficulty felt when striving for that goal.2011-03-25-the-epiphany-of-sisyphus

But not wanting improvement is an even bigger failure.

So think it through, pick one aspect of your own behavior that could use some tweaking and get to work. And next year, work on it some more a bit differently. One year, the effort may just work!

Hope you have a great year full of clear insights,  interesting challenges, wonderful achievements, and much love.lilmagoolie_resolutions_color11

Author: GoingPlaces Can-Do Zero Waste

I moved to McMinnville a few years ago and was impressed with its friendliness and the beauty of the surrounding countryside. I write several blogs. GoingPlacesLivingLife is my personal blog related to travel, food and just general thoughts. Can-Do Real Food tells about my business processing local produce from small farms and preserving it by canning and dehydrating. The concept of Zero Waste appeals to me because we can truly reduce what gets tossed into the landfill with very small changes in our lifestyle. Join us.

  1. EXACTLY….but few people ever really do the introspection and then the action to start something that will change their pathway to better

  2. But it’s all in the journey…. each day is a new start.
